So working long hours for sh*t pay, picking up sh*t people under the the cosh of a sh*t council, floats your boat Sussex? I guess I just wasn't cut out to work with idiots, present company excepted. And to be honest, I don't know how you do it. :-k

Long hours don't bother me, I don't take sh*t money and never have, and I have as good a relationship with the council as is possible.

I also like most of the fellas I work with, in fact they are my best mates.

So that's how I do it.

Another bunch who want to earn off other men's sweat ! Run by two guy's who know nothing about the Trade and hold no Driver's Badge.

I believe it is called free enterprise, which really means feeding on people who are least capable of doing anything else for a living. It's the capitalist way, of building an empire out of greed, ignorance and desperation.

What a fu*king existence ... " a rat race is for rats" right enough. :-|

Hmmmmmmm let's just say it's a matter of perspective. :-o Although, your view is somewhat dependent on not looking at what you don't want to see, while convincing yourself, everything is the way it should be. :-k

Surely, taxi driving can't be the different in Sussex. :-k

Would you pay £2.50 or £2.90 to pick up a fair at the airport, and then pat yourself on the back for paying to provide a service to customers you were legally obliged to pick up in the first place, free of charge? :-k

And how about appearing in front of your council as a witness against yourself, to speak to an unfounded, unsubstantiated, allegation? In other words, being summoned before the council to spill your guts in a bid to plead for your licence? :?

Not for me Sussex, it's a question of dignity. :-| I fu*king hated it.

As long as people are prepared to accept that being stripped of their dignity, is a part of the job, nothing will ever change. And rightly so.

You are right, Gusmac. :-|

I have been summoned to appear before the firing squad this week. I was admonished in Court for playing "DEAN MARTIN" a few decibels too loud at home at 23.15 pm ! Even got a night in the cells  The sherriff laughed his wig off and says basically " see you mate, why is money being wasted on this ? " And yes ! Police Scotland contacted DCC saying I may not be a "FIT AND PROPER PERSON" decided to appear, I've got 7 minutes to plead my case so, going to use it to slate the whole system then, hand them the Badge that, holds no value to me.

Listening to "Dean Martin" you say, instant revocation of licence, Christ, it's almost a capital offence. #-o

Let me guess, you were charged with the all-encompassing, breach of the peace, the catch-all crime to fit every occasion. #-o

How the fu*k do you relate something like this, to your ability to do your job and whether or not you are a fit and proper person to hold a taxi licence?

Then again, they might be worried that you could start playing Dean Martin to your customers, without their approval. A heinous crime in any mans book. #-o

Take a small video camera up with you and make a secret movie to upload onto Youtube. You just might get the opportunity to embarrass the sh*t out of them via the court of public opinion.

Fancy a day trip on Thursday Gary ? I am allowed representation so.....Come up for a laugh and, bring a cam with you ! I am going to attempt to tie them in knots but, you know the reply.." We refuse to discuss any subject not relevant to the present Hearing and, each case is heard on it's own merits " Blaw Blaw Blaw..
There is no consistency with any Council regarding Suspension Hearings. But, I will use the allocated 7 mins to degrade them after they have attempted to do just that to me ! I am walking out of there with head high, morals intact and, no floor dust on the knees of my trousers !

Quite possibly yes.

What matters is what my profits are at the end of the year.

If I have to pay £3 to pick up a £100 job, then that's a price I would pay.

Clearly if it's only a £10 job then my view will be different.

Of course not, but if he was my neighbour his sound system would be lost up his arse if he played loud music at night.

I would love to appear but unfortunately, I'm working. Although, at the start of your meeting, you should point out that you do not believe that 7 minutes is enough time to speak to your case. You can always bring this up supposing you want to appeal.

Oh and do a rough calculation of how many fares you've carried as a taxi driver over x amount of years without any complaints from members of the public. Use this as proof of your fitness to drive a taxi. And then point out that drinking Vino and listening to Dean Martin is a domestic matter, which is totally unrelated to your ability to do your job.

Oh and here's a wee nugget for your Cab Inspector, you might want to draw a comparison with his officers and what it means to be a fit and proper person.

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scott ... ce-2990278

Perhaps he should be applying the same standards to own officers before attacking your character.
