Cabbie Brian Timms, who has been jailed for sexually assaulting a female passenger
A taxi driver has been jailed for launching a sex attack on a female passenger.
Brian Timms exposed the woman’s breasts, kissing one of them and tried to grope between her legs, a court heard.
Prosecutor Lee Bremridge said Timms – who was in the Territorial Army - had been working as a cabbie in Torbay, for ten years and had his own Top Cabs firm.
He knew the victim, who is in her 40s, who had used his company before.
One night in April last year Timms, 61, was about to give her a lift and told her she had "lovely legs" and had lost weight.
He asked her if she was seeing anyone and she refused to answer him.
She got into the cab to get out of the cold and he again said she looked fantastic and complimented her legs.
Mr Bremridge told Exeter Crown Court: ”He started talking to her about sex. He asked to touch her and she said no. He asked if he could see below and she said no.”
He then put his hand up her skirt but her legs were crossed and Mr Bremridge said: ”He asked her ‘to get her t*ts out’ for him”.
He said Timms, of Arden Drive, Torquay, lunged forward and pulled out one breast as she tried to cover herself with her coat.
“He bent down and licked and sucked her nipple. She was absolutely mortified and paralysed with fear. He tried to kiss her and asked her what sex she liked and did she like it rough.”
A radio call stopped the attack and she ran off and told her friends what had happened.
Grandfather Timms denied sexually assaulting her and told police the passenger had initiated it.
Robert Linford, defending, said Timms’ behaviour was "disgraceful and appalling" and he was scared of going to jail.
Judge Francis Gilbert QC jailed him for a year for the sexual assault and placed him on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
