dundeechap can i ask you a serious question whats your attidue going to be if a driver who work,s or worked for you decides he would rather run his own vehicle then decides on a doblo and turns up at asda
is he going to be labelled greedy because he,s not linning your pockets ,
whats happened in dundee was long overdue it simply couldn,t continue the way it was going 203020 did have a lot to do with this but i believe it has backfired on them, without the hired plates plus long waiting list 203020 wouldn,t have had such a strong case ,this would have led to the council ignoring them as they do every one else, but whats happened happened and many of the hacks own drivers are on the fiat waiting list
sit outside ballfield road and watch, i talked to a hack operator on tonights shift who told me his driver had no intention of putting his own vehicle on
but little does he know the driver already has a form for finance with patons, and he,s been accepted .good luck to the guy it does,n matter to me which vehicle he drives he was already competing with me last week whats the difference, its the office owners who will make it difficult by streching the amount of cabs which work the office but even then itll only last so long do you remember when handys tried for 200 they got to 170 for about three weeks then sets went in left right and centre, its the individuals from outside the trade deciding to put on xxx amout of plates thats the trouble but even they wont survive because of a shortage of drivers (2004 in dundee will be a drivers market)two night to themselves?
it could happen, anyone who doesn,t move with the changes will be left behind its up to yourself dundeechap which direction you take...

cgull handys have had this rank for years and their is a notice up stating that only handy taxis can pick up from here although we get rival companies including 203020 (bless them) trying their luck ,the amount of work from this rank is difficult to cover even with private hire which often means a 20 min wait on a sat also the rank was obtained before private hire,s (bless them)apperared at handys so the position is complicated
as both fees which pay asdas fees are the same handys could have excluded the private hire,s and reduced their fees but they decided not to

That's another issue that the OFT missed out - do illegally hired plates in Dundee have a greater right than PH to rank up outside Asda.

It's an interesting question though!

as far as im concerned dusty the hired plates should not be included in the 508 figure 200 hired plates means only 308 taxis the next 200 should have been given plates months ago.

dobloman did you check the link above doblos actually got a good review i got a text message about that link saying that metalic red may be the quickest vehicle to obtain, or white which is basicly sxxte, what position do you think dundeechap fills in taxiing seeing he seems to be going over the top with his remarks ive got a feeling he,s not genuine and has a lot to lose over this many legit ops know they will survive but im not sure about this one, i know its not going to be a bed of roses when i get my own vehicle but im already knocking up the hours so i wont mind ,..

Don't know really what he is all about a little too aggressive for my liking but who i am to judge. Thanx for that bit of info scot much appreciated i will let you know how i get on bud.

A large chunk of the existing Dundee HC trade, appear to have got fat on the back of poxy council policy, and the hard work of others.

If they can't hack it on their own, then they should leave the trade and do something else.

The newspaper report I read after the meeting seemed to say that they exact specification for accessible vehicles in Dundee had yet to be decided, so are they definitely going to license the Doblo?

Dundee Chap, did you get your licence when the town opened up in 92?.
If so did you get threatened by existing operators at the time?
Somehow i dont think so as the majority of the licences issued in 92 went to guys working in the trade.
Be sensible, dont be angry cause guys are trying to better themselves, probably the same as what you tried to do in92.
Hired plates were eradicated in 92 when the town opened up yet within five years hired plates were upto or surpassing the level before dereg.
Dundee City Council are to blame, if they allowed transferability of licences then and monitored it properly then there would be no hired plates.
The situation at present is the one that happened in 92 only differnce is it`s going to cost the new operators a couple of pounds more as they will have to put on a wav.
SO WHO`S WON.
Not the existing operators who moaned about hired plates, there income is going to dramatically reduce as "Legal hacks" with the same faces behind the wheels will be on the streets in numbers.
Not the "new" operator who has been waiting for a licence as he will have to fork out for a wav (could buy a doblo , cheaper than a skoda) and get grief form the likes of dundee chap.
AND THE WINNER IS
DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL they are gonna make a few bucks out of licence fees etc, and the ammount of paperwork will reduce as they won`t have Dundee cabbbies writing to them moaning about hired plates.

So Dundee chap instead of getting angry do what i did and move out and come and live in the Village, nae chance of losing your licence as you dinna get grief in the Village.
 keep smiling all my ex Dundee colleagues

Forgot to give a little bit of advice for the NEW operators.
Dont go and sign up for a wav, you just might have to pay for a vehicle that you may not get a licence for for a gooooood number of months (heard someone is forking out for a qc and judicial review on dundee city council`s practices), so dont buy a car you will have to pay the chucky on for four years and you cant ph it.
 see you guys
be happy cabbies and take heed
