Dundee Chap, did you get your licence when the town opened up in 92?.
If so did you get threatened by existing operators at the time?
Somehow i dont think so as the majority of the licences issued in 92 went to guys working in the trade.
Be sensible, dont be angry cause guys are trying to better themselves, probably the same as what you tried to do in92.
Hired plates were eradicated in 92 when the town opened up yet within five years hired plates were upto or surpassing the level before dereg.
Dundee City Council are to blame, if they allowed transferability of licences then and monitored it properly then there would be no hired plates.
The situation at present is the one that happened in 92 only differnce is it`s going to cost the new operators a couple of pounds more as they will have to put on a wav.
SO WHO`S WON.
Not the existing operators who moaned about hired plates, there income is going to dramatically reduce as "Legal hacks" with the same faces behind the wheels will be on the streets in numbers.
Not the "new" operator who has been waiting for a licence as he will have to fork out for a wav (could buy a doblo , cheaper than a skoda) and get grief form the likes of dundee chap.
AND THE WINNER IS
DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL they are gonna make a few bucks out of licence fees etc, and the ammount of paperwork will reduce as they won`t have Dundee cabbbies writing to them moaning about hired plates.
So Dundee chap instead of getting angry do what i did and move out and come and live in the Village, nae chance of losing your licence as you dinna get grief in the Village.

keep smiling all my ex Dundee colleagues
