Gary the whole truth and nothing but the truth, your speculating
In the early stages of the tendering process for the airport I was talking to Tony Kenmuir at the gyle, we where discussing all things trade including the failed merger, I mentioned my concerns about the future including the at the time high discounting strategy of ECPH, I mentioned to Tony it's not the route we the black cab trade should go down and if we stuck together as had happened with Bill and Gary ex crt committee we could ride out the threat from ecph with our superior Reliabilty&service levels, I also mentioned we should stick together at the airport ensuring no competitor could match our bid, Tony gave it away, I could tell I said the wrong thing, I then asked him outright, he paused, he shook his head, I then said are CrT going it alone for the airport, a liars no was the response, backing this up I stood up at our AGM and asked our committee in front of the members if City Cabs had a contingency plan if CRT went ahead with a bid for the airport by themselves, knowing the Ph where to be involved I even mentioned acquiring persevere, I muted a partnership, I said at the agm I knew for sure CRT would be going it alone, I made the membership aware, over the next couple of months I assumed Les and our committee had guarantees that CRT going it alone was not the case, I know for sure Les put in many man hours on the forward travel bid only for at the last minute to be called by Tony and Kev to a meeting where Dode and Les where told that CRT where going it alone, the CRT plan and the other Black cab companies including City Cabs bids failed because none where willing to work alongside ECPH, the airport told the BC companies to sort it out, CRT again refused to team up with City but added their own ph fleet to their bid along with adding comcab, that left City standing alone, ECPH where getting the ph work no matter what, the airports choice was for city to run the black cab operation and ECPH to run the ph operation, we where allocated a space in the car park, it happened to be alongside each other, that's tough, get on with it or lose it, again though CRT failed to accept the ph was going to ECPH, they even put a £500 per car deposit on 35 Volkswagens, their bid failed, we won our part of it fair and square and with no dodgy dealings, we continue to run two Seperate operations, fact.
Now I stand corrected on any part of my understanding of the situation that arose as a result of CRT going it alone.
