It was just an example.
Im not proud and i dont beleive that it was screwing over people.
Charging disabled people more is illegal and finding a way around that is hardy funny, let alone something to be proud of.

BTW Private hire is a
book in advance service. Why can't you simply arrange the jobs so that the vehicle isn't miles away at the time?
I apologise for putting "lol" in a previous comment. It may of come across wrong.
When we started wheelchair work we were very conscious of pricing so we got advice with LA amongst others.
All our cars were actually hackneys. We had to be hackney due to having the name "cabs" in our name. We never used a meter once tho as people would not pay meter prices.
We got the WAV as many customers requested it. They were also surprised how cheap we were doing wheelchair jobs. To be honest the WAV was more hassle than it was worth but we wanted to provide a good service.
One interesting point you made was why not book in advance. Well i feel the trend has changed over the years. Not many book for later any more. They book for asap. Typically the vehicle would never been in the same area as the job.
The point i was trying to make was that if someone requested a certain vehicle type we made a charge for this. I know certain companies who charge to request a female driver or an estate car for example. Its done as the most effective way to work is nearest cars get the job, someone asking for different then causes dead milage.
So heres an example of a fare from us.
We charged £6 fixed rate from a village into town centre. with the £5 it made it £11
Alternative wheelchair only company £25
We were less than half price, which is why customers loved the service.
At the end of the day you need to make profit on a vehicle. What is worse? The small fee to request a vehicle type or wheelchair users having to pay massive prices?
