I am not very happy. One of our drivers was due to meet and greet a customer at East Midlands Airport a few minutes ago. He queued up to go in to the car park and when he got in there he could not park anywhere. There were no spaces at all. There were cars just driving around the car park with no hope of parking. So the driver had to leave the car park without parking. He still had to pay the parking charge of £2.40. I rang to complain and was told that the charge is for entering the car park and not necessarily for parking. I wonder how much they are making from people not being able to park? B'stards!

I'd check that one out, I will wager that the tariff board says "Parking Charges"! Who in their right mind is going to pay just to enter a car park, someone is fobbing you off.

You can't exit the car park until you have paid the charge. Once you have entered the car park it is going to cost you £2.40 to leave regardless of how long you are there (up to 30 minutes).

There was something on East Midlands Today on Tuesday about the profits they're making, they got on about parking charges and interviewed a Taxi Driver, he hit the nail on the head when he said, "we bring them customers."

No, buy if I pay to use the car park, I would like to be able to park. That shouldn't be too much to ask.

I am not disagreeing with what you are saying re the exit.

What I am saying is that I have no doubt that the tariff states "Parking Charge"! In effect, they have as of this moment palmed you off. My take is this; you/your driver entered to park, as such there was no parking facility. In light of that they were not able to provide you with the service that they claimed, basically fraudulent.

That is almost what I put in my complaint to them, without using the word fraudulent. I put it as Failing to provide the service that had been paid for.

Im not sure what it's like at other UK airports but at edinburgh once you take the airport turning at the Final roundabout you have no other choice to either through Drop off or Parking..and what ever one you chose it's going to cost you money.

Grandad, go to www.pepipoo.com and get some opinion from there. If you're up for the fight, they will help you win if there's a possibility.

you need a picture of the signage about the "parking" and if it SAYS.... "PARK" and you hand over money you have a common law contract for a service, try trading standards?

Simple solution, wait at the first roundabout or the free park and ride, until punter is at the drop off strait in load chuck in a squid and out, charge punter a squid extra
