Well, well - if it wasn't immediately obvious why someone outside Dundee should be so enthusiastic about corporate licenses in Dundee and so against a level playing field for drivers, then it is now!

its only hack operarors who say theres no money in dundee any driver will tell 200 clear on sat or sometimes friday isnt hard to do the problem with the ops is they are sitting back and letting their drivers earn for them which means they only get half what their car actually earns hence the theres no money in dundee statement...

By the way no.2, existing operators can`t apply for corporate licences, although some have got away with it in the past.

As far as I can make out with the corporate licenses in Scotland Mr Villager, it's open for anyone to apply for one. But what you are talking about is one in an individual's name being swapped for a corporate one, and in the process jumping the queue for licences.

That's what happens in other Scottish cities, but not, it seems, in Dundee.

I suspect it's open for any corporate body to apply for a license in Dundee now, but the hassle of setting up a limited company or whatever to apply for a license won't seem worth going through if the license will be worth nothing anyway.

If you had had the foresight to do this when you applied for your license years ago (presumably) then you would have been able to sell it - the corporate license idea was just a scam dreamt as an afterthought to get round the no-transfer rules in the Scottish legislation.

But you didn't have the foresight, so tough.

issuing her with the plate would have made a lot of difference to her financial position and i for one who has been waiting 10 years would have not objected to this ,but its the usual case lets pretend were doing it for the widows when were really doing it for ourself..villager if you really are for widows why not get a petision going for the widows of drivers ill gladly give my place on the list up unlike the rest...

I hear what you're saying scot, but the problem is that the widows will only benefit if there are people like yourself who cannot get a plate and have to drive for them and pay for the privilege, which hardly seems fair - what happens to their widows?

The widows can have a plate now presumably, but then won't want one I would imagine, because it can't be used to milk working drivers.

And as you say, Mr Villager, who seems to be claiming to be rolling in money, benefits as well at the expense of working drivers, and thus his support for the widows seems somewhat self-serving.

When you say make £200 clear on a Saturday and sometimes Friday, what does this relate to?

£200 clear profit?

If so, what would the car gross, £500?

The DTA don't issue licenses, just idle threats.

Go to your council and apply. Then see what they say and do.

i phoned council today and was told no new objection has been lodged however an objection to all new plates was lodged by the dta before the new plates were issued and has not been withdrawn and so that still stands all new applicants will have to wait 28 days to find out what happens next by the look of it ,anyone wishing to nip the councils head can phone 01382 434202

Dusty, my Dundee licence is in a corporate name has been for over 20 years,as for me relying on drivers I drive over 70 hours per week over a seven day peroid haven`t had a clear day off in 18months,i aint doing it for the money i am doing it cause i love the job( hated it in Dundee so i got out)and also i provide a valuable service to the villagers,a service i may add they never had till i started.
Money isn`t everything, o.k. it`s nice to have but job satisfaction and being able to hold your head up in your community is more important(to me anyway).

 be happy

Scot, the 28 days starts from when they lodged their appeal. If that was before the meeting, then surely that's near to running out.

As the council made their decision on the 11th or 12th, that doesn't leave too long.

So if I were you or your colleagues, I would put my application in.

alex ive already got my application in and am due up next meeting but i was informed that when issued it has to lie for 28 days even if there is no objection this is to give people time to object but if citys open what grounds can anyone have for an objection?

They can have no grounds unless you are not fit and proper, and I'm prepared to say you are, for what it's worth.

If the Dino's objected to your application (as with the rest), then you will have a very good case to go to appeal and claim for damages and loss of earnings.

But I doubt they will. They will be paying 203020 huge costs for many years, without having to pay any more to you and your colleagues.

If i was private hire or driving a hack in Dundee i think i would stay that way unless you have unlimited money to put on a WAV to make less money than you are now. And as far as objections go there is no rank spaces for any more taxi's and there won't be any more work either so less money for everybody good reason for objection as far as i'm concerned.

the main focus here from the councils point of view and a court if nessacary isnt that there is not enough rank space but the lack of wavs which dundee does suffer from this will dump any objection guaranteed..
