This why anyone who thinks they are covered still by Enterprise needs to wake up....theyve been under scrutiny most of this year

This incident is from nearly 3 years ago.

but are NOT paying out on claims if I have correctly understood what has been posted on here other than through the financial services compo scheme; but this is 3 years ago so may not be too much chance of that and these proximo people sound dodgy. My understanding of these "loan taxi " schemes is that the vehicle is driven on your insurance in place of the vehicle being repaired so the claim would have been against your insurance surely or was that not the case ? If it was and your insurance went belly up the third party may well within their rights to go after you.

Are you a member of the FSB ? If you are then their legal insurance would provide assistance and advice

I cannot see that the hire company would let the car out on hire without having insurance themselves!

Is there any chance that the hire company also had some form of insurance that could be brought into the equation, as I would have thought that they must have some backup to protect themselves against the unforseen?

It was not our own insurance. the vehicle came with it's own insurance. Following the accident we had to pay a £750 insurance excess. At the time our own insurance was with equity red star.
I have just had a thought. I wonder how long our council keep their vehicl records. They should have a copy of the insurance document from when they plated the vehicle.

Proximo would have used a 3rd party to supply the vehicle. It was the 3rd parties vehicle and insurance.

Okay, I am thinking that when you/I hire a car then the hirer makes sure that you/I pay for the insurance in the event of an accident etc! Would they also have backup insurance incase of the unexpected, as is the case. As a company I feel that they must have cover in place! So, are the Ins companies conspiring (so THEY do not have to pay out), inturn trying to tag the bill onto A.N.other?

I feel that there must have been other insurance cover involved that is not out in the open.

Hire fleets cover the car themselves but also have driver insurance however many hire firms (the biggest) never claim, they just charge repairs to customers or pay themselves as the premiums would be unaffordable - hence so many "unrecorded" late model cars on the salvage sites.

Royal mail used to be self insuring too as indeed anyone can be with millions to lodge with Lloyds of London thereby bypassing underwriters
