Quite a significant expansion from our friends at Veezu :?

But, as per other significant purchases over the past year or two, it's probably a case of picking over the trade's post-pandemic wreckage :-|

This is the official Veezu news release, so it's full of the usual blather, but the Eastern Daily Press has largely rehashed it on their news site [-(

Veezu heads eastbound with Panther Taxis Cambridge and ABC Taxis Norwich

Veezu has extended its reach eastbound with the purchase of Panther Taxis in Cambridge and ABC Taxis in Norwich.

Panther Taxis, has been operating with more than 600 vehicles across the Cambridge area for over 30 years; whilst ABC Taxis in Norwich has built a fleet of over 340 vehicles since 1994, when the business was established.

Both areas will benefit from Veezu’s investment in the latest technology to provide an even better service to passengers and a better driving experience for driver-partners.

Nathan Bowles, CEO of Veezu, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Panther Taxis and ABC Taxis’ driver-partners and their passengers to Veezu.

“We are focused on continually improving our service to give passengers what they want, and right now partnering with more drivers with the latest technology will help us give their passengers the best service possible.

“These acquisitions extend our reach to the east of the country and provide the opportunity for Veezu to build on hyperlocal activities to ensure the ABC and Panther brands remain at the centre of their communities across Cambridge and Norwich.

Panther and ABC driver-partners will be able to access new technology to improve efficiency and create more opportunities to earn. They will also have the option to subscribe to a vehicle hire agreement, accident management service, plus a host of discounted services and insurance options.

John Raynham, Director of Panther Taxis said: “Teaming up with Veezu seems a natural transition for us – there are many synergies in the ways our businesses operate and we all have established long-standing reputations. We have always operated at the heart of our local communities, offering our support wherever possible, and we look forward to continuing to do so under this new partnership.”

Simon Callender, Director of ABC Taxis, which has delivered over a million fares in the last year, said; “This is an exciting chapter in the ABC Taxis journey. Veezu value the quality service and community support, which have always been crucial to our company.”

Looks like a more local version of the Veezu expansion, and another stronger operation gobbling up a competitor weakened by lockdown etc.

And lots of Veezu-style blather, but at least there's one sentence (highlighted) actually acknowledging the role of Covid in weakening the target company :?

Southampton's Cab My Ride has acquired Millers Taxis

IT'S the ambitious family-run taxi service driving forward its latest expansion.

Southampton-based Cab My Ride has acquired Millers Taxis, taking its operation to Hedge End and Bishops Waltham.

It brings the Cab My Ride fleet to over 300 drivers in and around the city.

This is the second acquisition of the year for Arjan Sahota, the 27-year-old director of Cab My Ride. In January, he acquired Bitterne Cars.

He told the Daily Echo: "There’s an exciting time coming for Cab My Ride, as we continue to expand our business throughout the South Coast. This acquisition allows us to open up to a new market and grow our ability to serve thousands of customers with reliable transport."

The six-figure acquisition will allow Cab My Ride to serve a community that once did not have access to on-demand transport.

The new Eastleigh hub will benefit from the expertise of a bigger team, with more resources and capital to invest in technology, customer service and cars. Cab My Ride has retained all Millers staff and is also looking to expand the team.

Arjan added: "Millers Taxi has been an integral part of the community around Eastleigh, Fareham and Winchester since its inception; a household name everyone knows.

"The company was formed with vehicles owned by the company offering high-quality service, including local and airport transfers. However, due to Covid, the company was left in a vulnerable position.

"Cab My Ride provide on-demand transport services to customers across the South of England and now can extend this offering to customers in rural areas where typically it would be difficult to get a taxi.

"We're able to do this thanks to the addition of 13 MPV vehicles from Millers to our fleet, something which is rare to get in the city at the moment."

Millers Taxis operated for over 50 years and became a household name in Hampshire.

Former boss Timothy Miller added: "I am excited to retire from the industry and relax. All the team are excited to move over and open the business to new opportunities."

Cab My Ride prides itself on providing fast, reliable and affordable ground transportation services to riders.

Their navigational technology is built in-house by a team of software developers.
