To be fair, if it is true then it's all going through the system anyway, so certainly no hiding place as regards his earnings, particularly when his name is splattered all over the press

Just can't get my head round figures like that, though, but I suppose it's feasible if he's just had three days off in a month, and is doing 12 hours a day, and it's non-stop, and minimal dead mileage etc.

But he says elsewhere that he paid out nearly £2k in expenses, and that's without even visiting a garage, or buying tyres, or whatever. And presumably the figures are before Uber's take, so he's probably left with little more than half of the £10k...

But that's the particular problem with articles like this - readers will think £10 is in the pocket, and will ignore that half of it will go on commission and running costs, and that it involves working non-stop for a month, more or less :?

There's a video on here where he explains some of the numbers, which is worth a quick look. The tips are interesting, at least as I recall it and assuming the figures are legit (can't be bothered reloading and watching again).

So his Uber tips are about 3% (it looked better in terms of the raw number, because it was about £260).

But Bolt just 0.5% (£8), so Uber tips about six times better than Bolt's :-o

And £155 in cash tips - hope HMRC taking note

Total tit, though, and it sounds even worse on the video in terms of braggadocio

Says he more normally takes £5k in a month.

What's left of that after Uber's 25% and expenses? Probably £2.5k if he's lucky.

Which isn't exactly a fortune for London living, I'd guess :?

Assuming a few weeks off for holiday, he's earning not much more than £25k profit, I'd guess.

I don't necessarily disbelieve the figures in the piece, but he's at it hammer and tongs, and I'd doubt he'd keep up that kind of pace on a permanent basis.

Typical newbie, I'd guess - working all the hours and never at home. If he's still at it after a few years the wife will have to pester him all the time to get him out of the house

His numbers don't add up.

He says he occasionally did £500 but normally did £200.

Working 28 days out of the 31 means his average should be £363 or there or there abouts.

In short, he would have had to take £500 on as many days as he took £200.

The fact that this article has gone viral means it is being spun big time by Uber.

I reckon if the figures are ture, he will soon find that less is more, like the local hack on the Romney Marsh that I've mentioned on here before. Why work more just to pay a higher rate of tax?

How did he manage to get hire and reward insurance at his age?

He's 26, Roy - isn't 25 normally the cliff edge as regards either getting insured in the first place, or paying mega-premiums if the driver actually manages to find an insurer who'll cover him?

Anyway, I'd guess he's paying an arm and a leg, even at 26-years-old :?
