2Do work as Doctors Nurses,Harley St is full of them.
3My members say they want equality on crim checks,someone tell me how
4GBC is accusing the PCO of licensing [edited by admin] please supply the evidence,i will ensure they see it within 24hrs of receiving it.
5its always easy to generalise,i didnt think much good came out of some parts of the occupied 6 counties,but learnt otherwise,because someone is from Bosnia,Nigeria,The Shankill,Sefton, does that make them scum obviously not,the fact that we cant adequately check some of their background is frightening,so give me the answer.We are extremely concerned at this state of affairs,it would appear the indigenous population are being discriminated against.

Tell the minister, when you have tea and muffins with him, that we want the same level of checks for licensed taxi/PH drivers as licensed doormen and women have.

If someone applies to be a licensed doorman or woman, and can't show a proper checkable history, then they don't get licensed.

Sussex actually your wrong,we have been involved in organising Doormen etc,and exactly the same scenario prevails.Frightening and no tea and muffins,with the man just straight talking,expect to meet him early in the new year.By the way GMB sponsored so if you have anything else on your mind we ll talk.

I said theres a danger they could be licensing, to use your term, '[edited by admin]' as we have no adequate system of checking their records in the countries they arrive from.

As Sussex points out, no verifiable history, no license, but we all know the London minicab industry would colapse if that plan was ever implemented.



There we go, we do have some common ground, and all with no insults flying about.

does the same background checks apply for those applying for taxi licence as PHV drivers?

We have to submit (and always have done) a CRO check every three years for re-licensing..

Given the fact I've never met an East European London Taxi driver, I don't hold the same fears as I do for the Minicab industry who, as you know, are actively recruiting as we speak.
I believe they're opening a can of worms, all to save money instead of paying the Minicab drivers a decent wage.


We do however have some drivers from Africa, who have done the knowledge, and yes they could have avoided disclosing convictions, but to date apart from a case back in the early 1990's I've never heard of a sexual assault in a licensed London Taxi.

well im sure GBC after some of them are here for a few years they'll be applying to be hackney drivers........then it will be your problem too

I really do hate if it when people talk through their arse,,, local councils are required to act under European law, and under European law as a member of the European state we are supposed to accept their standards and the way they work,, unfortunately it is not the same as us, so what we need to do is educate our local councils that they are working under a false conception, the problem appears to be that local licensing officers are not bringing Councillors up to spec... in other words Councillors are not aware of the problem,, I can assure you that very soon Sefton councillors will be...
