Seems they're floundering in Edinburgh.

Here's the latest wheeze to get Taylor. What do you reckon the council will make of this?

FrancSuazee - bob dewar says he has sent a letter to the council objecting to Mr Taylors licence and plate i suggest anyone who wants to see Mr Taylor finished does the same and does it quickly why don't we all send a personnel message to bob dewar asking him for a draft copy of his letter then we customise to our own needs and post it off to the council if enough of us do it they may just listen or at least they will know Mr Taylor speaks for a small minority of us come on Edinburgh taxi drivers lets just for once lets do something together as one.

Bob's reply - I don't think that's a good idea Franc. They'll just end up duplicating what I've said. Anyway, I complained that I thought Taylor was not a fit and proper person to drive a taxi - nothing to do with a taxi plate, and I gave them my reasons which will stand up under scrutiny. It's not difficult for others to do the same. Just some time and effort is all that's required.

I wonder what the new RC would make of my appearing before them? Think they'd relish the idea?

And the press?

Bob (Roger) Dewar is nuts. He's just made himself look very silly.

And we all know what happened to the silly cabin boy, don't we?

BTW The legal suit that would follow could be lucrative though

License and plate?

Mr Dewer must be bordering on desperation if you have wound him up so tight that he needs to send a letter to the council highlighting his hostility towards you?

I would write or telephone the LO asking if they have recieved such a letter and if so if they would kindly send you a copy as you believe the letter could contain innacurate and defamatory statements in respect of yourself.

I suspect you will know what to do once you have a copy of the letter.

I have no doubt that you can expose to councillors that the content amounts to libel and defamation and that the architect of the letter should be considered as being unfit to hold a license and not yourself.

Untrue statements have a habit of rebounding on those who made them. Assuming there is an element of fiction in this particular letter. If it is just a rant without substance then I suspect it will get thrown in the bin.

Regards

JD

My own view is that all the time the status quo is being challenged, then both sides are very angry.

Will it end in tears, I hope not, but I'm certain it will end in plates.

Quality. Supersoakers at high noon

Much better than doing a double pike with tuck from the North Bridge eh?

When I think of "predator" Kevin Young with an 80 grand noose round his neck and unable to explain it to his wee wifie ..... quality

Perhaps if he, and the others, hadn't been such smart arses we may just have had some sympathy for him and pointed him in the direction of the way out.

Anyway, it's not as if they weren't warned. We've been on this trail for two years. They've had ample time to adjust and take the necessary steps to avoid financial problems.

Anyway, didn't Kevie buy in in the full and certain knowledge of what was happening? Didn't he disbelieve us? What else could we do but tell him what was going down, and we were open about what we were doing every step of the way? They bought in despite being advised not to. You can take a horse to the water .....

And the next contestant will do a single pike, with backward twist and a full tuck.

Ah the thought of it, just makes my mouth water. All these pitiful sad “businessman” types who just can’t take it anymore

Oh but then they do have the council looking after their interests

Heard a wee story about some numpty that bought in only a few weeks ago - paid the full Monty through his redundancy package - Plate and Taxi 70K - you couldn’t make it up.

I almost felt sorry for him

To all you scum bag owners that can’t see the opportunity Taylor and I have given you.

This is your chance to use de-restriction as a means to take yourself forward. Don’t waste time blaming people for what was ultimately inevitable. The plate value was never going to last. Better it crashes sooner rather than later – Dublin being a (100k) case in point. The old wood will be cut away. The market will be left to those who are fitter and know how to survive. There will always be some collateral damage, just make sure it’s not you.

BTW, spitting the dummy is not the answer – move on.

And if you can’t move on – burn

Oh dear Skull. Methinks you've given the bounders some hope.

Isn't it more likely that the herd will choose to burn rather than grasp the opportunity?

It's a kinda catch 22.

They grasp the mettle and prosper. We were right.

They fail and burn. By pointing to their weakness we prove we're right again.

Lots of guys apply for plates. We're right.

No one applies for plates (unlikely). We're right again because we've always said there was no need to panic. Owners will have moderated rentals. Loyalty will prevail. We would be proved right to give the drivers the option.

Drivers work substantially the same shifts, albeit on their own vehicles. We will be right again, cos we predicted this.

This is why there's been no counter argument to the case we've articulated. Because we're right.

BTW Still no word from WKF Milne about his willingness to appear before the Revenue to explain the discrepency in his books over rentals paid to him. (Surprise suprise)

And still no sign of Roger giving up his notional £30K plate value. Can't wait for this. I wonder if he will grovel to me in the same degrading way he does with the council?

Yes Jim, it’s sad but true - we were right - and they were wrong. Some will benefit and some will perish. Survival of the fittest I believe - improvise adapt overcome.

Do we care?

Not a jot.

This is their opportunity to become the “businessmen” they have always claimed to be. You remember Jim, the “I bought a plate and that makes me a businessman” brigade. I bet they feel a little bit silly now they couldn’t give their “business” away.

BTW, did you see the plate for sale in the Scotsman and Evening News? What a desperado.

I get the feeling he's stuck with it.

What are you using to predict your asumptions.

Your mate is saying the fit will survive and the old wood will burn.

Greed will prevail Jasbar .................... and you will get new owner drivers working 18+ hours a day.

The only point you are correct on is that rental rates will drop ............. and so renting will become a more viable option and as many will enter the trade renting as there will be buying their own vehicles.

Remember it is your own desire for a plate that has motivated your battle .................... more people than you are motivated by making money .................... and if they all hit the streets at the same time, well you'll be fighting for a return to the days when your could make your money and still spend time at home with your family ................ even though it cost you more to make your money.

B. Lucky :D

Am I reading this correctly?

I can't find anything in the Scotsman or CEC website which states Edinburgh is going to lift the limit on Taxi's?

Is this speculation, or have we a date pending for this?

I can't fault you for your determination and energy on this mission Skull, but I hope you can make a living from the trade if the numbers are lifted, that's a lot of PH drivers that are going to be changing sides, along with a lot of other drivers who currently do 12 hours, maxing them up to 14 or perhaps more over the weekend.
